JBA cat4ward shorties
i was looking at the jba cat4ward shorties, and wondering if i need to buy any other items to use them with the stock cats?
does anyone know this? reason is i live in CA, with BS smog laws, so i need to use the stock cats. also, my catback fits the stock cats. |

I hear ya. I dont think you do. they just replace the stock manifolds. Check with JBA.

Dont think so but you never know. Maybe if there is a drop in power at a given lower rpm and it fills in the gap showing a big increase. Seen that on axelbacks Longtubes on the v6. Also hypertech tuners. Some mfg's do that to show big gains, but they are not the peak gains

i actually have one of the hypertech tuners, it made a very noticeable difference in power. i took my camaro to the track when i first got it, and it was actually the fastest camaro ss (out of 5) that was there that night (1/8 mile, irwindale). hp tuners, and flowmaster catback on the way this week.

You'll do fine installing them on the stock cats. Just make sure you tighten things up.

got one of them on today, drivers side was easy, but the passenger side is tight! header wont go in from the top, im thinking about dropping the mid pipe, and putting the header in place through the bottom.

besides, i live in ca, and i do not want any issues with smog later on down the road... although i seriously would rather go full length headers and high flow cats. swapping out stuff just to smog something sucks and gets old really fast. been there. besides, padre has them, and he's laying down some serious power. |

Yep. Passenger side has to go in from the bottom. Loosen the band clamp for the Cat and move that out of the way and it will slip right up there.

Let us know if you and what you notice on the street. On the v6 I did notice what I had hoped for and that was bottom and mid range pickup, top end not noticing 5 hp, but hey maybe you'll get more. Yeah here in Kali we cant do much. Solo hi flows you will notice I hear, at least easier to take off when needed unless they start randomly looking under cars.
