Thanks for the compliments. The camera is a 5+ year old Nikon D50. It has its weaknesses compared to the newer DSLRs, but it does most of what I need it to.
The whole reason I bought the car was to do road trips in California. I’ve been here for two and a half years on a ‘temporary’ assignment and always wanted to do some road trips in a nice car. So, I finally broke down and bought the car a few weeks ago, and am looking forward to doing some nice trips in California. I’m planning a trip to Monterey up highway 1 in the next in a couple of weeks. Death Valley and Sequoia probably won’t be too far off either. This is a fun car to drive on the mountain roads, when the passenger isn’t complaining of getting car sick. |

Thanks for all of the compliments!
No stripes. Wish it didn't have the front license plate holder either, what a terrible way to mess up a perfectly good frontend! |

I didn't get a change to do much driving this weekend, but I did make a trip to Isabella Lake on Friday the 'back way' (A to B on the map). It was a very nice drive that I'd recommend to anyone in the area if you haven't made it before. People were very friendly, almost everyone waved, and they pulled over to let you pass. Just watch out for the cattle; I didn't see any one the road, but there were a few that were close. Parts of the road do a have a stream crossing. The water wasn't more than trickle going over the road (think garden hose stream running across the road, but wider), and I had to cross it three or four times the entire trip. Also there were a few sections of torn up road where culvert was recently buried for other stream crossings. It wasn’t too bad; I just went very slow.
I wish I would have stopped to take more pictures, but didn’t want to keep passing the same people so I just drove on. I’ll take more pictures next time I make the drive. |
