Indy Pace Car info needed...help asap??

***UPDATE***I just spoke with the head of Chevrolet marketing for their Performance cars so here is the true info.

The production number of 295 is correct and here is the breakdown :50 to the Indy 500 Race: 45 to Canada and 200 spread among the top dealers for Camaro sales in the US.

When I went to pole day I saw a whole parking lot full of festival cars and the highest license plate number I saw was #49, which leads me to believe that there are at least 50 being used by IMS and Indycar officials during the month of May in addition to the ones allocated to dealers accross the country.

I just spotted this while looking at merchandise on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway web site. If you purchase tickets to next weeks Indy 500 you can win one of the 2010 Camaro Indy Pace Car Festival Cars used during the month of May at the Speedway. Check it out at: http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway...tickets/37499/

They are having problems with their web site so if at first you don't succeed try try again. It took me several times before I got it to work.

Indy pace car production

There were 295 Indy Pace car replacas built. This includes the US dealer allotment,Canadian dealer allotment and 50 festival cars at INDY.The only cars with unique numbering are the festival cars that were numbered at Indy. You will see these numbers in the lower windshield on the drivers side. These numbers also match the Indy licence plates they have for the month of May.The only way to identify a true Indy car is with RPO code Z4Z.

Know some people and an ex-Chevy dealer that have some pace car connections. They buy some every year. We were first told about 2 months ago there would be 47 Festival cars for Indy. Soon after they started arriving to be prepped we were told the number would be 50. A friend of mine (Lee93) knows one of the guys at National/Arelco where the cars are prepped and he even saw the stack of fesitval car plates that numbered 1-50. So the picture on this site in the 125 Camaros on opening day thread posted by 5THGENRS has us scratching our heads a little!

the ONLY thing i don't like about those cars is they should be Summit White with IOM stripes and IOM seats!

Who knows, maybe they will have a 2011 Camaro convertible pace the race next year. Then they can honor the '69 Indy Pace Car and '96 Brickyard Pace Car with the color scheme you mentioned. Fingers crossed!!!

Your exactly right. And I don't see any 396 emblems on them either.
