IMO not needed at this time you will like it there is a small out of focus but dont wast the $, You can allows do it later if you don't like it.

So for those of us that have an auto transmission, we have to remove the shifter?

Yes, You will need to move shifter to manual mode and pull off shifter handle. THen remove shifter housing(gear select lights) to get center console out.

Me and Walt B did not remove it not that i did not want to but did not have the right tool to do so, And we got the console over the shifter by doing it first then disconcerting the power.

Your call.....Manual says remove it. Its been done without removing it. Your toy, you break it dont come crying back here:upset:
Its 1 screw for shifter handle, and 4 for shifter plate..That should take all of 2 mins to remove.

Well on my car we could not find the right tool to remove the gearshift knob, so we just moved the console around to get it over/clear of the gearshift knob. Also we had placed the gearshift in Manuel and the console was the first thing that was removed from the car.
