Exhaust Rattling Sound??

Hey everyone,

I installed Flowmaster 3" catback a little while ago. After I installed the system I notice rattling sound when driving over the slightest bumps. Sounds like the pipes hitting something underneath them. Is there a fix for this? Anybody else experience the same problem with 3" systems?

I just had a catback installed and had rattling on startup and until the car was fully warmed up.

One of the pipes just after the downpipes/catalytics was ever so close to one of the transmission crossmember bolt heads. I had the shop move the exhaust a tad to give me clearance. Also, check the heat shields. They're flimsy and can rub if the installer bent them slightly. It's best to get the car on a lift and move the whole exhaust while underneath the car. Sure beats being on your back with the car on jacks. I was under that car about 8 times in the past 4 days. I finally called a shop I use periodically. On a lift you'll be able to pinpoint where it's rubbing much easier. And best part was the shop didn't charge me for the tweak, woo hoo!

A 3" system will hit the tunnel brace bolted underneath the driveshaft and exhaust pipes. You can get something like this http://www.bartonindustries.com/BUYTunnelBrace.html
