Unhappy My Camaro went home to Oshawa to die......

I drove up to Oshawa for the Camaro homecoming from Chicago last week.

Got there safe and sound Thursday night, and Friday morning took the car down for a quick wash before hitting the show......a block away from the hotel, the car suffered " catastrophic engine failure " leaving a light and shifting from 1st into second. Pretty ironic to die blocks from where it was born.

Luckily, Kelly & Veteran 1 saved me by getting my car back home on his trailer.

Where it goes from here....I'm not sure...GM will try and blame the cam/tune, but the car has run flawlessly for over a year...some pretty serious carnage for an 8900 mile LS3.

Some pics of the damage, and it's place of death and it's memorial.

wow.. i feel your pain.

I had a cam/tune on mine.. yours went through the pan, mine went through the block, you might be able to reuse your block.. i had to get a new motor.. lsx376.

but you might have seen my posts on here about that.

i'm sorry. it's sad to see things blow up.. when you take the top apart, look for a failed lifter like mine..caused the valve to hit the piston and go kaboom.

I haven't torn all the way into it yet...all I checked for was a broken valve spring....the block is shot, through the gaping hole in the pan you can see the liner for the cylinder is destroyed beyond repair.

Straightline Performance tuned the car, and it's a Comp Cam, 228/240 .571/590 on a 113.

All these modded Camaro dying. Maybe these engines were not designed to be modded at all. I mean, every other day, we are hearing about these modded Comaros dying. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against modding, I don't do it personally myself, it is just an observation.

Just wonder, anyone have same thing happen to themselves in an UNMODDED Camaro?

Good luck with fixing it, hope you are on the road soon.

I wish I could tell you that someone's gonna pay for it but I can't. My advice is to take everything off that you can reuse and call CC performance or PM him on here and talk about buying an engine from them..you can get a shortblock forged from them at a fair price ( i think less tha than 6K or the long block if all the rest of your stuff is ok for not much more. Good luck!!
