Just washed my car yesterday; as I do every week, and the chips are getting bad. I've seen these chips begin to accumulate since I drove it off the lot. It looks like someone peppered the area around the gills with rat shot. I can't believe after only 3000 miles it already looks like this. It makes me sick to my stomach and pissed

Yep lots of chips. Low on the hood, high on the hood. Doors and the gill area are full of them. At least the yellow touch up paint matches pretty good.

I have some chips that were pointed out to me by the read grills and up at the lower front by the front wheels (even though that area looks like someone just came and took a spike roller and just went to town...a little upset but i am going to get some touch up paint and for the back chips if it works i might try to take some of the front area ones out....

I am still wondering if this is a early build problem.. I have over 6000 miles on ours and still no chips in any of the areas I see complaints about...Ours was in the 77K Vin range.

I really love the new Camaro and was planning on buying one but after finding this thread and reading through it I don't think I could buy this car and live with the heartache.

Hey Scott, Get that frontend repainted and put a 3-M bra on it. You won't have that problem. I have it on mine and I don't have 1 single chip. I have to tell people I have because it is completely invisable.

Excuse me for rant.

China's stronghold just keeps getting stronger.
EPA is in bed with China thats why its getting harder to actually make something state side that and the govemerment rather tax the hell out of incoming goods and then tax us again when we buy the product so they can make money....time for a new goverment if you ask me.

Paint chips

I took my car into my dealer and they are going to repaint, but they did say that gms fix for the chips at the rear is the factory mud guards and I will have to pay for them. Which I think is pretty fair.

What's the name of your dealer? Mine wouldn't repaint mine, they told me it was natural for a car to chip like that. Mine only has just over 3000 miles on it too.

Got my First ROCK chip.. and I say Rock because what hit it was about an inch in diameter, the outline of the impact was still visible ( I actually heard it hit the car and asked my wife , What was that?, she said it sounded like a rock hit us), but it only made 3 small chips in the paint they were in a triangle pattern just below the lower grill near the center.. I touched it up with some touch up paint, and unless you are looking for it, it is hardly noticable.. I looked the rest of the nose over as I was cleaning off the bugs and did not see any other chips anywhere.. not too bad after 6,700 miles..

I have about 5000 miles on mine,

Few chips on hood at centerline

About ten each side at the gills

If its not an adhesion problem, it's a durability and aerodynamic engineering issue.

Hopefully this forum will help make future Camaro's better!!

If GM doesnt fix this, then we can, anyone know if we could get these areas touched up and layered with a good sturdy clear-coat? I know its a band aid, and pissing in the wind, but Ill be damned if I'm gonna just live with it!!

I feel bad for all u that have a 2010 Camaro. I wanted to buy a 2010 SS but i refuse to buy a car the first year it comes out because of issues like these, i like to give it two years to work the bugs out and maybe engine changes also with the 2012 model line
