Carbon motors Becoming a reality.
Check it out. They have chosen a home right here in Indiana!
This should help. Officers please weigh in on this one. I think it's necessary for cops to have cars like this specifically designed for the job. What do you guys or gals think? http://www.carbonmotors.com/ |

Yeah, I have been following them for a while. I'm wondering how good they are going to turn out. They should come with two really comfortable seats for the front and two extremely uncomfortable ones in the back.

Diesel and at 250K miles you send it back to Carbon for recycling!? Damn.. not only did they just create jobs for assembly, but when the cars get sent back they might as well make a dis-assembly plant on the same campus..
Hmm, wonder if the concept could work in the 'civilian' sector? One thing that catches my eye is that they didn't make the drivetrain AWD. But I guess if it ain't broke.. |

Problem is, they are a bit slow, and they will be easy to pick out, not a great car for unmarked. Are they bullet proof at least?

Definitely great news for a town that was once know as "Little Detroit." It's not quite a done deal yet. Some pretty big hurdles still need to be jumped.
Some excerpts from this mornings INDIANAPOLIS STAR: "Carbon Motors needs to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in one of the tightest credit markets in decades and in the midst of a recession that has hammered other automakers across the nation. The private company declined to discuss its fundraising strategy or disclose the identity of its backers." "Much is riding on Carbon Motors' next step. The company said it is applying for a federal loan from the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program to help finance engineering, model-building and crash-testing." "The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it must resolve some problems on acquiring the plant, raised by Visteon's recent bankruptcy, and it must address some undisclosed environmental concerns." http://www.indystar.com/article/2009...s+many+hurdles My bet is they get it worked out, we need it too bad not too! |

I mean unmarked cars are already easy to pick out as it is so ... really? I guess they could smoke out the roof integrated lights and mask everything else.
