@chuck - here's a quote from the statute, feel free to interpret.

Also, when placing the plate in the window, a cop can technically write you for a second ticket (obstruction of view) if he/she wanted...

All that being said... ultimately know it's not legal to run without a front plate in NJ, it's not legal to put it in your window either.

As long as when you're driving, the plate is in view, and in alignment with the statute, then their is no reason they should write you a ticket.

I know people who have drivin in NJ for 10+ years with no front plate, never an issue. I know others who didn't make it 10 miles. Mod at your own risk.
I didn't want to go to with the motorized version, I was afraid of the motor crapping out and the unit being rendered useless. I like mine, ultimately I could leave it up all the time if I wanted, but when I wash the car, or cover it I like to flip it down.

A plate in the window can be a citation of obstruction, as well as anything hanging down from your mirror if the officer wants to be an ass.

I've never gotten a ticket while driving for not having my front plate, but I once got a ticket for it while parked in front of my apartment.

I just really can not get over the fact that there's no kit to pit it where I want it when I've seen so many Camaro5's with the plate in the exact spot.

We gave you some options, the show and go plate works well. You could also use toggle wings on the lower grill to keep it on without any drilling.
