ordering problems at the dealer?

just wondering if any of your dealers had problems today?

I was about to walk out of the door to go order and the dealer called me and said they were having problems entering the order in the workbench?? or whatever its called....

I had to tell the guy where to find his allocation on chevylaunch.com

so does anyone know anything about this, maybe he just doesnt know what he is doing???

he told me he was done with all the paper work but to come in a couple hours so they could get that figured out.

Pink, if you didn't get your MSRP or less written down, from what I'm seeing, many dealers are rethinking their msrp or less just to make a quick buck. He may just be stalling for time.

I've been sitting in the dealership since 900 (2.5 hours) and we have been unable to submit my order - keeps saying invalid order type on the workbench - we chose sold order type cause that's what we've been told to do - still waiting to see what's going on

well im going today either way, and signing a contract. whether or not he can figure out how to get it in the computer. he said all the paperwork was done.

I know they are hurting for sales, and we bought our last truck from them, so i dont think he would do that to me.

maybe i am naive though. hope not.

Hey I have read the Concerns and questions about ordering the New Camaro and I can assure you it is all legit! However dealers can not order their Alocated units, it is sold units Only!!!! I have Worked for Ford and now GM and it is a simple process! Build, Deposit, order!!! Local dealers may have to contact a rep to figure it all out!!! I would be happy to answer any Questions I Can!! I also would appreciate info on what pricing agreements dealers and customers are discussing not gossip actual depoists with agreed Numbers!!! I have access to the Gm Sites however not the showrooms of other dealers I work in a small town and conduct small town buisness!!!!! Thanks

Hi, and welcome!

Can you explain the difference between "allocated orders" and "sold orders"? I thought that you couldn't just buy a car at a dealer if they had already bought their "allocation", but what you just said implies that a "sold order" is not coming from the pool of "allocated" orders.

If I go to my dealer and he's already used up his allocation, are you saying that I can place a "sold order" and it will just get built and delivered because it's "sold"?

I am confused.

This maybe confusing and all, but take a moment of Zen and think about the car you are getting, it will calm your nerves. Remember these guys are salesmen not computer geeks, so they might be a little overwhelmed by the program.

My sales person didn't know how to enter the order. She tried the regular way they did orders and it didn't work. She call some kind of GM helpline and was on the phone with them for probably 45 minutes. I believe she was directed to another link ("Quick Order" maybe). She could make it through most of the pages on the new link ordering a 2SS/RS/Manual and no other options but on the last page, she couldn't select the Next link. I believe the GM helpline ended up entering the order for us.

The order paper work I have does have "OrderWORKBENCH" at the top.

I finally got mine entered in -- what was mentioned above is correct -- the salesman needs to go into the "quick order" area of the workbench and configure a vehicle that way. They must choose "sold order" as the type of order as well.

The sold order associates a specific customer with customer information with the order as opposed to a normal "retail order" that is for the dealership to put on the floor -- the workbench stated that these types of orders (dealership floor orders) are not yet allowed.

A further problem that I had and is something to keep in mind is that there are certain permissions that the different salespeople have depending upon where you go to place your order. I finally found out that it took the head sales manager to enter the order as opposed to the general internet salesperson as he did not have the proper permissions to use the quick order to place a sold order.

However, I prevailed, and have my order number for a black on black 2SS/RS
