Not good news but my advice is to stay calm and never be afraid to get a second opinion once you get the diagnosis.

As far as the Camaro I am sure that you will get is soon, on Camaro Z-28.com there is a podcast with a guy from GM that says they are working day and night to get these cars out. The wiring issue caused a bit of a delay. If you need to I am sure that someone from GM will go the extra mile to get your car to you under the circumstances.
