L99 Gas Mileage Per Tank?

I just received my car last week, and I am stumped. I filled up the car last week and the estimated mileage on a full tank appeared to my surprise 345miles. Last night I filled up and the mileage is now 296.

That is a pretty significant difference. What are you guys getting to a full tank?

Sounds about right... mine was usually around 300 or so. The estimations are always off for some reason... same way on my Fusion. It tells me I should get 400, but I get about 350.

The estimated milage is calculated by your average mpg you are showing on the cars DIC / internal computer. If you are averaging 15mpg x the capacity of the tank that should be about what your fuel range is displaying.

I am currently avergaing about 15 - 16 mpg around town with about 2100 miles on my car and this morning when I filled up my range was about 280 - 290 miles or something in that neighborhood. On the highway that range typically increases to above 300 miles, just haven't driven alot of highway miles yet so not sure about that range just yet.

Did you put the entire 19 gallons in the tank?

I think its safte to assume the total MPG estimate is based off of that and your gas gauge goes to empty sooner so you have a "reserve" in case you can't get to a gas station. In most cars you're gas light will go on with about 2 - 3 gallons in the tank.

No, this time the tank was down to a 1/4 of a tank. I sure did like seeing the 345 miles to a tank!

As others have noted it depends on what you r average MPG is. As of now I am averaging 19MPG which puts me at 361 for a full tank.

The DIC tells me 17.4 avg, but I only have about 315 miles on my car. Hopefully it gets better...
