New product for claying. Faster, cleaner, quicker...I know the dealership is using something like this. I bought one and will use today. I thought claying was going to be nasty but its a cakewalk and the results are incredible.
The Speedy Towel just makes it easier.
check out this vid I found. This is what sold me. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...y+Surface+Prep

I look at my 3 year old black truck that I put a paint protection on and never touched since. Its a mess. The Camaro, I super cleaned the paint, removed all marks and then applied Opti-Coat 2.0. Now thats amazing stuff.
I'm hoping that I can bring my black truck back to something reasonable.

I'm willing to give tips. Product? On your car, the Zaino polishes would work amazing on it! They will tend to give it lots of depth and a wet look. Don't get me wrong...Adam's has great products, but I know how well Zaino works on the darker cars. Zaino is expensive, but keep in mind around 1 ounce should do the whole car.

I will warn you, like I warned Rob. There is a LOT of work to detailing a vehicle if you want the paint perfect! LOL LOL There are more abrasive polishes you can buy to speed up the process and different polishers as well. Go to adamspolishes.ca and watch the videos. They are VERY good videos. Then you can look up The Junkman on Youtube as well. He's a supporter of Adam's polishes.

Let me know if you guys would like a hand.
Thanks for the offer Tom, I might take you up on that and maybe stop by to check out what you are doing!

I'll be washing my car today, almost 2 weeks since its been painted so it should be ok now, will do the Baggie test after. The biggest issue for me is the swirls-hate them!

I was at the dealer yesterday getting my tpms reset and an oil change, so walked around looking at the ZL1's they have. The ones outside had massive swirls on them was surprised to see them looking that way and with the high sticker price!

Anyway, I have watched the videos, I'm just more of a gotta see it in person. Will be ordering something this week, and plan on getting it done before may long weekend....might not happen by then, but it's a plan

First rule of thumb, Sheena, do not let the dealer wash your car! LOL
THAT is why all the swirls are on their cars. :(

so adams work better on lighter cars like SIM... and zaino works better on darker cars? I've been using Zaino from day 1 and its given me a good look... but not that DEEEP LUSTRE WAXY LOOK... which i've kinda wanted

Same with me. I've already scratched the drivers side RS hood stripe and it makes me cringe every time I see it :(

I had my car detailed at refine automotive last year and I was pretty happy with the results.

I'd love to do it myself, but I'm nervous I'd make it worse!

How bad is the scratch in the stripe? Sometimes that can be fixed, or greatly reduced.

I wouldn't say Zaino doesn't work on the lighter colors, but its easier to see the results of Zaino on the darker colored cars. I have SIM myself and there are certain angles tht you look at it and the paint looks wet. And you can get a deeper look to it from polishing.

I've used adams. Honestly prefer eshine.ca
Prices are great, free shipping over $150 and you get reward dollars. Spent over $450 in the past 2 months and will continue to buy from there

One thing I will say is most Adams products are good. Eshine carries a bunch of brands so you need to find out what's "good"

I took it to several detailers last year, and they all said it would be unfixable. I'll probably replace the stripes in a year or two.

When the time comes to replace them, get them painted on.

I'll definitely consider that.

Had vinyl on mine for the first year, they looked good but I hated the raised edges and the fact that they just would not hold a shine.

Had them painted on in the spring of 2010 and they look so much better. I guess the only down side is, if I get a big scratch or chip, I can't just peel them off and put new ones on.
