Front License Plate mount alternatives?

Do you guys have any alternatives that are aesthetically pleasing, i really hate the bulky stock front plate mount. Basically, if I had a choice of not having a front plate, I wouldn't have one. My main concern is looks. please help!

Homemade license bracket

I wasn't going to use the stock location so I came up with my own mount off to the side. Used toggle bolts through the grill and a couple of small blocks painted black.

Doesn't look too bad (in my opinion) and keeps the local law enforcement happy.

Cell phone picks follow - don't mind the bug splats please.

Lou!! Thats pretty much exactly what I'm going for, can you give detail as to how you did that?

Also, any one know if it is illegal to cut your plates in CA?

Never heard of anyone doing it, but it sounds like it might be lol. Why would you need to cut the plate anyways?

^^^^

Love these, but glad I live in a non-front plate state.

It's pretty simple stuff. Just used a license plate holder I had, drilled 2 holes through it, ran a couple of 3" toggle bolts through some 1" wood blocks into the grill where the 'toggle' part of the bolt slips in behind the grill and holds it in place. I put some old rubber tubbing on the toggles so they would cushion against the back of the grill.

Works good, holds the license plate off the bumper (which I wanted). I think though I'm going to replace the wood blocks with maybe a couple of cut down hocky pucks. Should weather better than wood.

I liked 'no plate' better, but the wife and I each got pulled over (no ticket fortunately). So that's how this came about.

Best of luck with yours!
