Too bad the Subie has no option for better styling.:(

Standard on the Camaro.

Contact Costco auto buying program and they should be able to get you a new base WRX for 24-25k and talk the dealer into adding HID's and fog's over the parts counter for cost or cheaper depending on your negotiation skills.

320whp is only a intake, downpipe and tune away on a new wrx.
No I have not, last one I sat in was a couple years ago, on of the bug eye ones. I have long legs so its not really the height thats a problem its the width.

And what is this Costco thing you speak of? Is it specific to certain makes/models? If you dont mind shoot me a PM on this I am a member over there.

320 whp is very tempting, and AWD would be great up here in the snow. Only thing stopping me is that I have a very strong chance at getting a 1SS/RS either soon or early next year and Id much rather have that over the Subie too, understandably of course. Its just a different animal.

After taxes a 1LT RS is going to be around 29k I was able to get mine new last year for 27k taxes included. Still cheaper than a WRX with similiar options.

With a skilled driver behind the wheel, the WRX (even the 227hp WRX) would likely win a 1/4 mile drag race. But if the driver is just okay (can't launch it all the well), then the advantage moves toward the Camaro.

Stock 227hp WRX are very capable of running low 14s bone stock (lots of guys have done it) in the 1/4 mile, but you need a high rpm launch (4k drop clutch) to pull it off.

From a roll, a V6 Camaro would walk away from a stock 227hp WRX. At higher speeds a stock WRX is real slow.

So it would be a close race (1/4 mile) with the advantage going to the WRX with a skilled driver behind the wheel. From a roll, it would be all Camaro (especially at higher speeds).

a 2002 bone stock wrx(not sti model)hit 5.1 0-60 at best but normal is around 5.4, and quarter mile is 14-14.2, I seen guys break 13's with just a simple boost controller.
I was a suby guy for over 10 yrs and still go to meets and I am the only camaro guy now out of all subys and some evo's. One thing you have to remember is that subys are AWD so we put it all on the ground. A bone stock older wrx vs a v6 camaro will be close but I would have to bet my money on wrx. Now if you are talking about the newer 2.5L wrx than dont even race unless you want to lose. Im not even going to get to STi because now we are talking about a different breed and regardless of old, new, sti, or wrx you have to remember that the weight advantage and AWD advantage will overpower the camaro. STi's modded run 11's all day and night and now the base wrx only have about 35-40 less hp over the more pure STi.
Dont ever sleep on them, ever

Well, you can't compare a negotiated price to the MSRP and the point was you were saying it would be a 5k difference between a WRX with HIDs and a Camaro, really like 1k-1500 difference and you get a huge bump in performance with the WRX, more room, and awd in the WRX which easily makes up the difference.

Also don't know where you are getting 22k for the Camaro, the starting MSRP is 23540 and remember it is a base stripper, no fog lights, 17 inch steel wheels, etc. WRX starts at 26220, again the WR comes with things like 18 inch wheels, AWD, etc standard. You are paying more, but you are getting more.

break alot? maybe from trying to mod the crap out of it but its actually very reliable. All jap motors are good in my book. I think the early version wrx did have wheel bearing issue but other than that they was all very reliable with cheap plastic interior.
I miss the snow

Except for Mazda's infamous 2.3 Miller Cycle KJ-ZEM motor.

I know some guys with some ten second ones from various years and every time I talk to them their car is in the shop with something broken lol. Evos + STIs Ive seen seem to break a lot. Probably because they get heavily modified and at that point reliability goes out the window.

I raced my friends 2010 WRX with my 2010 3.5 Altima from 45MPH up to 115MPH and by the end of it he was 1 car length ahead. That being said I have the CVT which is a bit slower than the 6MT. Both stock. From a dig I am sure he will beat me by more if he does not bog down as I have heard AWD can be harder to launch. I have never driven AWD so not had experience with it.

Yes, I have I was looking at one before my Camaro. They're nice but nowhere near as nice as the Camaro. As for 320whp with only intake, downpipe and tune?? I call BS, thats nearly 400 at the crank considering the car's AWD and loses even more power to the wheels. If it's underrated at 265, it needs to be closer to 300+hp to get 320whp to the wheels with just those mods. I don't know where you just pulled that out from.

320 isn't the norm, but quite a few have done it. 300-310 is more around what you can expect with said mods and a dynotune. You have to understand that, at least for the ej257 in the sti (the 255 in the most recent wrx is verrryy similar) we run 14psi stock and most run around 20 tuned. That's a huge increase in airflow, huge. It's not uncommon to pick up 70-80awhp with minor bolt ons and a good tune.
