CAI question...

I am looking into getting a CAI for my camaro. I have heard that you get better gas mileage and more power.

I wanted to know how much gas on average you would save and how much power you will get by changing it.

What is the best CAI for the camaro and will it void the warranty? Thanks!!

Check out the JRE independent CAI testing thread. They tested about 20 different brands. Usually you'll see a small increase in MPG and the HP gain varies depending on the make.

I'll put in my 2 cents. Most people on here life the C.A.I. CAI instake. I almost bought it, but then wasn't too impressed by it's ability to get massive amounts of cold air. I went with the Vararam because thats exactly what it does. It's not on the JRE CAI sheet, but I will say my throttle response has greatly improved and I'm getting a HUGE increase in power from 3K+ RPMS.

Dont you have to move your radiator to install it?

Yes, remove two bolts, lean the radiator back, install the VR, then install the new longer bolts to secure the radiator.

it was between CAI and VR for me..but I am not a fan of tampering with the radiator. Even if it just a slight lean, radiators and I don't mix..

i got the CAI INC. because of the testing, looks and it does add HP to your car just like all the cai's do.as far as mpg,i can't really say,it would be strictly a guess.

Cold Air Inductions CAI + the ADM race scoop is proven to be the best combination. HOWEVER, I'm supercharging my car and I've heard the CAI INC wont fit with the Whipple I'm putting in, so I may have to go for a roto-fab

Ask 100 people on this and get 100 different answers. The one owned by each person answering is absolutely the best you can possibly buy, and the rest probably suck. Like mentioned above, look at the Jannetty tests. Also, they won't void warranty, usually. The main issue being some types might over oil the filter which will ruin the MAF sensor, meaning you will pay to replace it. As for higher mileage, doubt it if they're making more power. But never say never.

I have heard rumors CAI is releasing a strictly SC application shortly...not sure if that matters to your specific set up or not.

yea, it seems every company claims this. I don't doubt it, it may be slight... I assume with just a tune and an intake you could get a few miles too

Simple bolt on with no further modifications required. If you wish you can relocate you washer bottle which will increase air flow, and/or install the ADM scoop for added HP. Let me know if you have any questions at all, I would be happy to help you in anyway I can.

Our system works great for stock vehicles and will perform extremely well should you decide to go with further mods. As you can see, our air box effectively seals to the hood which means you get all of the advantages of a lid without the restriction. As you increase power levels our intake design and large filter really make a difference.
We offer a large variety of options including:
dry or oil filter
custom air box colors
Plastic, stainless steel or carbon fiber finish inlet elbow
black, red or yellow hose couplers

I've never noticed an MPG difference that was enough to say yes or no. I started out with the C.A.I. then went to Vararam, switched to Halltech, and am now running a combo of Halltech (tube and filter), Roto-Fab (box and washer bottle kit) with ADM scoop. One recommendation is if you go with a box behind the headlight type, seriously consider the scoop.
