i doubt they would design a completely new motor, and slap an old designation on it..

Here is my take... all this ZL1 hype and all the pictures that have been released of the ZL1... have ANY of them EVER had a roll bar and sparcos EXCEPT this one?



I have been saying it all along but no one seems to answer...

The Cobra Jet and Track Pack BOTH have factory roll bars... I am betting this IBM "ZL1" slipped through the cracks and was photoed... I do NOT think this car is a ZL1.

Until GM says that there is a LS7 Camaro ... there isn't an LS7 Camaro. A Camaro drag car could easily just use an LS376. No LS7 needed

Apparently they're bringing the LT designation back.

There isn't a whole lot they'd need to do. Engineering wise, pretty much all the problems will have already been solved from working on the ZL1.

They've been doing it for years. Take the LS6 for example. Many new enthusiats recognize that as the engine from the C5 Z06. But the old school folks remember it as the famed 454 big block found in the 1970 Chevelle SS. And, as I learned just this week ... it was also part of the Iron Duke family of 4 bangers from the late 1970s.

I answered, and I think you ignored it. GM does that to protect their engineers & test drivers. Conventional safety systems are not designed to accommodate crashes of over 100 mph. Look up some of the old pictures of the black SS that was being tested at the ring. I'm 99% sure that it had a cage & racing seats too. GM also normally states that when they do their 'hero runs' at the ring that the cars are stock, other than additionally safety equipment (ie, a roll cage & racing seats)

With that said, let the speculation continue. I have always been a believer of unless GM says it in a formal release, it's not true.
