clear plastic where bottom corner of door closes

Can I take these off? Their is one on each side and they have an open corner that one of them has a few specs of dirt in. My buddy's 2010 doesn't have them and he also bought his new.

You can, but you will get chipping there. I removed mine and replaced them with better fitting pieces of 3m clear bra because mine were getting dirt under as well.

Mine are still good after 5 years & 35,000 miles but it is the first place to collect dirt around
the edges. I clean the plastic edges with a soft toothbrush, no problem. I can't see how dirt
could ever get underneath them.

Really? I've never seen any other car with these, the door shouldn't touch them. My buddy's 2010 doesn't have them. Are we talking about the same thing they aren't on the door they are on the outside corner of the door jam. They are sort of triangular in shape with a raised opening that would easily catch salt. I don't even drive it in the rain but I still don't want dirt in there.

^^^^^ They are down where the rocker panel meets the 1/4 panel. I'm pretty sure every 5th gen comes with them.

Well I know my buddy's doesn't have them I will post a picture tomorrow just to be sure we are talking about the same thing. When you see mine you will see how dirt can easily get in there because one corner is like an open pocket. Why does this car need them my ss cobalt didn't nor have I seen them on any other car. So it will chip if I remove them?

The door doesn't touch, but road debris sand blasts that area without them. I saw a used red one with 50,000 miles and that corner had little paint left.

I pulled mine off two days ago.. the centre top has lifted away from the car a little and was a black spot dirt collector. When I go for my oil change, I'll have a new one put on in warranty.

The car should have them from the factory. It helps rock chips from dinging the paint.
