HELP! ... Lost a cap in engine bay!

HELP!! lol.

So i was in the engine bay and was cleaning up everything and noticed the brake reservior was a leaking a bit it seamed so i took the cap off to clean everything up. Cleaned off the cap and put on the side of engine bay where the hood seals. cleaned up the reservor body and put the towel on the side of car (i know not smart.) Problem comes is i put the towel on the cap so when i picked up the towel it SLID DOWN INTO THE ENGINE BAY! Straight down behind the strut tower and into the only hole it fits in ...

pics below of location im talking about ...
the hole under the AAC2 sticker ...anyway to get it out?!?!?!!!!!!!!

tried reaching down into there and found out to things ... 1) its hot in there after driving around. and 2) my hands to big :(
alternate way to retrieve it?

I can't tell from the photo, but if you can see it, even if you can't, perhaps you can use one of those "reach tools". You'll need the "claw" type as shown, not a grabber type. I have a couple of these things and they have saved me from a lot of grief more than once. Good luck.

Get like a dowl rod with some duct tape on the end and it will stick to it and pull it up, or even a bent metal hanger.

Go get a new one... its gone. I see where it fell and its in that area that you'll spend too much time trying to fish it out. Call the dealer tomorrow.

There is a TSB about them leaking so you need a new one anyhow.

I noticed you said you were wiping off the resivior bc is was leaking... it shouldn't be. Time for a trip to the dealer. They should have them in stock as its a commonly replaced item.

Yeah I'd suggest a pair of mechanical fingers to fish around in there. Bet you won't do that again!

You're going to need a new cap anyway since it sounds like you have (had) one of the leaky caps. I did too, and got a new cap under warranty (but it can't cost too much). No leaks with the new cap.

I had a similar situation with a bolt. Took off the front tire and the wheel trim liner. Was then able to manipulate it back up thru the hole. Good luck man...

I lost the cap to a liter of oil through the hole for the hood release once, down into the sealed front fascia. Let me tell you what a joy that was, especially squeezing my not-small hand through a hole in the fascia and then having to pull it out again with the cap. I'm surprised I had any skin left after that one - as it was I had my hand glazed with neosporin and wrapped in gauze for a couple days afterwards, but I got that cap out!

A few things to note if you are going to get a new cap...

ONE: ( you probably know this) dont drive it with the cap off
TWO: put something over the reservoir for now to keep junk and moisture from getting in there

One of these ^^^ to see if you can spot it and then a bendable wire with duct tape to retrieve.
