Thumbs down No More Nascar on my TV

The last two weeks I have not been able to tune into the race. I have cable TV with an expensive High Definition package. But after calling my cable service and asking about this, it's going to cost me more to get the NBC sports channels that Nascar is on now.

I watched Victory Lane on the old Speed channel last night and noticed that there were tons of empty seats at the Brickyard race. Nascar has been getting less interesting to me in the last few years and now all of a sudden I can't even tune into a race if I wanted to. The regular NBC channel has bicycle racing on while the Nascar race is on. Good job Nascar and NBC, that's the way to increase an audience.

I think once Nascar became over the top safe, I started to loose interest.

Racing back to the line was awesome and really strategic, along with pits, gas, tires, etc. I understand the safety issue, but it took away an aggressive part of the sport. Now I only watch the Daytona 500.

same here. only another $10 month to double my channels to 200. problem is that would be another 190 I won't watch - just to get NBC SP. i watched the saturday xfinity race. empty stands at indy. NBC got burnt on the coke race with the delays. i'll just watch the ones on regular NBC. don't really care for the commentators anyway. the red 1LE pace car at Indy made it worth watching the saturday race even if the cautions were few at Indy.

When ESPN and TNT lost their contracts NBCSN and FOX Sports 1 took over. So there will be less races on Fox and NBC networks.

For me, Nascar died with #3. I used to love watching Dale elbow his way through traffic. Now, you can't tell the cars apart. Heaven forbid someone wins three races in a row because Nascar will change the rules... Combine that with all of the political correctness, and I'm not interested.

The Brickyard because is a terrible place to watch a stock car race anyway. I went once, as a guest of Ricky Rudd. Not a fun place.

I think NASCAR has to get back to it's "stock" car roots. All the cars are the same, none can be bought from the dealer like they had in the past. Maybe I'm just old, but when front wheel cars became there choice of cars it lost a lot of my interest. Buy a SS from the dealer strip it make it safe and race it. I would take slower speeds if I knew it was stock. I feel the trend in happening at my local dirt tracks also. JMHO.

It has gotten way to long. A debris caution for balloons on the track can take 7 or 8 minutes. A crash will take 10-15 minutes to get racing again. I watched part of a Bristol race a couple years ago and 20% of the race was run under caution. Who really has 4-5 hours of free time to sit there and watch commercials with a few minutes of racing in between????

Do a search on NASCAR loosing attendance and how they are forcing the track owners to remove seating. If they remove 20-50,000 seats, they can sell less tickets and still get a sell out. Then the idiot announcers can brag about how NASCAR sold out.

Competition cautions are what did it for me. What a joke!

If NASCAR want to save itself they need to:
1. Bring back the Saturday night short track racing set up. Qualify, heat 1, heat 2 and then the main event.
2. Get another tire manufacturer or two. Michelin and Hoosier Racing tire can beat Goodyear.
3. Give the teams more freedom to modify the cars.
4. Lower ticket prices. How much will 4 tickets, food and drinks for 4 cost you?

Im the same way, now im sure im quite a bit younger. Dale died when I was 5, but I watched religiously every week to watch the black number 3. I prefer grass roots racing myself, I bracket race a drag car, love to go watch the local dirt track races and some of the asphalt circle stuff when they run it. Both NASCAR and the NHRA have gotten to the point where they no longer interest me. Due to poor television coverage, the cookie cutter design of the vehicles, and the overall cost of what theyre driving, I could never afford it. I like watching events that I can set a goal and shoot for driving one day. JMO.

NASCAR, too PC, no root-n-gouge like the old days, rule changes like crazy to quell a good team...

Lost me years ago...

Sprints and midgets for me...

I'm not paying for it either. I don't watch any sports except Nascar and I guess I won't be watching it either. Which is just fine.

I like Nascar but I confess I have been less interested than I was twenty years ago. I feel like the rules have steadily gotten so convoluted it's difficult to know without a computer who is in the points lead at any given moment. As a result, with the objective so hazy, it's hard to get into it. Even if you take the time to really understand the points race they change it within the next year or two. That's a turn off. That said, I absolutely prefer Nascar to any other sport. I realize to many I am a pariah for saying this but I truly can't stand football.
