Another New Camaro Damaged

Yesterday my wife was driving our 2LT from her office out to lunch. She stopped at a 4-way stop waiting to turn left. She waited because across the street there was a driver who seemed to be on the wrong side of the street and she was worried he might do something stupid.

As she's waiting at the stop sign...SLAM! She gets rear-ended by a woman driving a Beamer. Probably texting while driving.

Took it to the dealer today. $1000 to replace the bumper (which had a crack and some chipped paint and deep scuffs) and the exhaust baffle (which had a hole in it from her license plate holder). My wife said our 4" Doug Thorley tips left a fairly deep indent in her hood.

Her insurance will pay, but still...2200 miles new and this happens.

Dark now. I'll try to add a pic tomorrow.

Sorry to here it, BUT, at least it was only the plastic bumper and not teh REALY body panels.....I could handle the plactic being replaced easy, but I have a thing about the REAL body getting messed up. BUT STILL.....it that would have happened to me, and the person WAS on teh phone....I would go BELISTIC, its my pet peeve.

Well, your wife is fine...that is what matters!

Monday here in Cedar Rapids -on the interstate - a 25 y.o. woman rear ended a guy just driving to work minding his own business...she was doing something OTHER than driving to hit the poor guy. Tied up the highway for over an hour at rush hour on a Monday morning...and got the guy arrested for driving on a suspended license...BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!!!!!

Mirrors can't help if you're stopped at an intersection. Except maybe to brace yourself.

yes, but not much you can do when sitting at a red light, and as you look up, they are about to plow into you. Happened to me 4 wks ago, $8,500 to my truck. Totalled the other guys vehicle. Luckily, no one even had a scratch. If we had been in my wifes car, I feel we would have had some serious injuries. He hit us doing about 45-50 mph.

Sorry to hear about your trouble, but thanjk god the wife its ok. Make sure they replace the impact material under the bumper fascia as well. Once it takes an impact it is no longer effective!!
