When does NPP kick in?

I drive a 2010 with SLP Loudmouth II, and really love the deeper tone, and volume even at idle. If I understand want I've read correctly, NPP only kicks in at higher RPM. So, at idle, does it sound like stock exhaust? What RPM makes the valve open?

I think the 5th Gen is at 3,000 RPM's(could be wrong) but there's a fuse you can pull to have them open all the time. On the 6th Gen there's a setting to have them open whenever.
