Alarm system
I'd strongly advise thinking about an aftermarket alarm system, the stock alarms are basically garbage.
I've parked my car outside of my house for the last almost six months, someone on Friday night decided to smash out my passenger window, and tried to beat up my windshield it seems as well (both have to be replaced). Insurance won't cover it, no surprise, and it's gonna cost me a good $700 to fix now....My car is about 40ft away, I didn't hear anything. Lol since Feb 2013 (when I got it) my Camaros been stolen once (found two months later) hit twice (both not my fault) and now broken into once... |

The stock alarm does not have shock sensors. All it has is a fuel pump disengage if the starter is tampered with, with which there is an easy get around.

Why won't insurance cover it? Do you have Comp coverage? Is your deductible too high? My Infiniti was vandalized about 5 years and my insurance coverd it, have a $100 deductible. Sorry for your frustration.

that's what I was wondering. insurance covers vandalism too. anyhow, all factory alarm is hardly an alarm. it goes off if a door is forced open, or opened from inside after the doors have been locked and the alarm activated. |

Apparently the passenger window about $370 was claimable but would still leave a negative deficit, but they wouldn't cover the windshield whatsoever, even though it was vandalism and I had reported it to the cops... Cest la vie |

This is a "comp" claim on most insurance policies. If you don't have comp coverage, then you should think about it. Even if you had an aftermarket alarm (with siren), the window can be smashed, the siren goes off and you jump up to see what happened. The perps are gone by the time you get out there, and you'd be in the same situation.
