You're in my prayers man, hope things get better real ssoon.
Have you considered learning a CAD program? The shipbuilding industry is really hurting for experienced people. With your tech field you would make a great designer if you learned AutoCad.

well first off Id like to thank everybody for your support and prayers through these rough times. This is by far the best site on the internet....the Camaro5 fam is great.
just got the results from my sleep study and im not a expert but the results seem shocking to me! REM onset latency was 0Hours 0.0 Minutes Apnea Hypopnea 54.71 events per hour, 3 obstructive apneas, 114 obstructive hypopbeas, and 2 central apneas REM AHI 0.00 per hour maxamal desaturation 84% average heart rate 91 beats per minute Sleep stage percentages: stage 1) 20.6% stage 2) 78.6% stage 3 (REM) 0.00% Im no doctor but I thought REM was important, and your heartrate was supposed to be like in the 60's when asleep??? But I wont let this get me down! things are looking better for me, and I got a sleeping mask to make sure Im breathing at night! but does anyone have a clue what the rest of that stuff means??? |

Hey Tford I just sent an email to my two aunts, one of which is a doctor in kansas city and the other is a nurse with 30 years experience, not to mention that my grandfather had trouble with sleep like you so they should be fairly knowledable about all of this. So I should have an answer or two for you in the next day or two.

Im on a Submarine and we were doing whats called sea trials, where basically all the operating systems are tested. Well I knew we would be taking angles, it was in the plan of the day, I thought that I was OK after taking a few angles. When I descended down to the next level I was'nt prepaired for the large angle that we took, and thats when I lost my grip and the rest is history. Besides thats the good part about being the govenment I cant sue them anyway, I knew all the hazards when I first set foot aboard the boat...That would be the GOV's position, and they are right. The reason Im getting out is they evaluate you based on the ability of you to do your rated job, and world wide deployability. Due to the medications that I have to take just to keep the pain bareable I cant perform my duties working with nuclear weapons. My physical limitations prevent me from being world wide deployable, and just about everyone has to be deployable in the Navy. Pursuing legal actions against the military is fruitless unless you have a lot of money!!!!

Beware Long Post!!
New guy here.
Before i say anything remember that every case is different no two ratings cases are the same. There is also a big difference between Military Disability and VA Disability Compensation. I dont want to get anyones hopes up. One of my buddies i served in the Corps with cannot lift his right arm above about 30degrees. He was one of three in my platoon, including me, who had neurological complications after a round of smallpox and anthrax vaccinations. Anyways, the cause of his condition is different but the lack of use and range of motion seems the same. He is rated 50% for disability pension from the military. VA claim pending. I was medically discharged from the Marine Corps, but at a 0% rating. I was rated by the VA at 80%. The two systems are completely different and serve different purposes. The military compensates you for the loss of a career. The VA compensates you on the severity of your medical condition no matter what grade you were or how long you were in. If your VA rating comes back around the same as your military rating take the VA. That is all tax free. Im sure you know, you are paying taxes on the pension. Plus, the VA will pay you extra money to go back to school and pay for your food and rent and find you a part time job with the Vocational Rehab Program. They also take into consideration your ability to work in their rating making a rating of 100% ($2,500 tax free) a good possibility. Dont feel bad going to the VA for help, these programs were set up to help warriors like us. For me, the psycological transition from Marine to civilian was and is the hardest part. I was kicked out with nothing more than my unused leave. A year later and i have a great job, 2 cars paid off, a wife and cash to buy a 2010 SS. Good things come to those who work hard and deserve it. There wouldnt be good times without the bad. P.S. I am very familiar with the whole process if you have any questions. Semper Fidelis |
