Dealer installed rally stripes

So i was speaking with my dealer the other day and he had mentioned that the rally stripes you order with your car are actually shipped seperately then your car and installed by the dealer themselves. So my question is:

[LEFT]How do i know for one that their placing them the appropriate distance apart from eachother. and or positioned on the car correctly all together?

I assume maybe it comes with instruction manual or somethin. i suppose i'm just probably parnoid their gonna eff it up. Any of you guys out there that got rally stripes on your camaro have any 411 on how the whole process went down, and possibly some measurments of what the distance is from stripe to stripe.

Thanks -MisterT

Yes. that is correct. I had mine installed at the dealer but they brought in a guy who only does custom striping. Man this guy was good and he let me watch as he did it. He took one look at the positioning chart, eyed it up and applied them. I would go nuts if they weren't symetrical and even. Perfect!! One note he gave me... wait about a day or so before washing your car and whatever you do, don't wax them.

So we can add the stripes (factory stripes) anytime after purchase? Cool. I like the flat black look on the Black car.

When you put the stripes on the car there is a clear mask over the top of the stripes that is bigger than the stripe itself. So when you put them on the car there are line up marks on the clear mask that help you line it up on the hood right where it needs to go. The trunk you just have to measure and it does not take long at all to do it.

The only thing I will add is to make sure you watch them put the stripes on. Mine was the first at the dealership and it had a couple small air bubbles on the hood stripes. After about a week one of them burst and now, even though it's tiny, left a tear on it. Im taking it in next week to get that one replaced. No biggie, I don't care much if something messes up as long as it can be fixed.

My dealer told me he has never done stripes before. I told him to call me when the stripes come in and I will pick them up. My buddy owns a body shop and has put the decals on (on other cars) dozens of times...He is very anal, and will be putting my stripes on.

I was considering putting a paint sealant on the car, do you think that would help protect the stripes from the wax?

You may want to make sure that's what he wants your car for. He may just want to have one to show for a day or two. Don't let him let people get their grubby hands on your car, if you care.

Just picked my car up an hour ago from putting stripes on. My dealer has a guy come in that is all he does is do stripes for all the car lots in the area. He said he had been doing it for over 30 years. He was great. I also asked him if he noticed any problems with spoilers being loose and when he took mine off he just barely used any force to loosen screw. So anyone not gettingstripes installed you need to check the 4 bolts holding spoiler oncause if my fingers could've fit in there I could've un loosened the nuts my self! But back to topic he measured it out then did stripes! They look great!! Hole new car!!

Our dealer refused to install the stripes, he said he would rather lose money on our deal and pay a professional to come in and do it that have someone from his shop ( who doesn't do this normally ) take care of it, I think this is great ! The car just came in a few days ago (?) and the stripes are being put on in about an hour, then we can pick our car up in just a few hours from now !!!!!

I think this is both very cool of him and very smart, if his guy were to mess up the stripe kit he is stuck with the mess of cleaning it up and buying a new kit, I think it's cheaper ( maybe ) in the long run to do it this way. But this also gives us peace of mind knowing that a pro is taking care of the stripe job and it should be done right the first time....

Hoping to post pics in the happy owners section later tonight ....
