Car Wash Soap???

So I am sold on the Zaino products. The car looks amazing after starting with Dawn and going through all the steps.

My question is should I continue to use the Zaino car wash?

I am using about 10 cap fulls to my Zaino bucket per wash so I am running out quickly washing once a week. I don't see where they sell a bigger container of wash and shipping expesnes will add up. Should I bite the bullet or is there a high quality car wash I can buy in a bigger volume from an auto parts store that will work as well.

I don't want to chance using the wrong soap on top of my Zaino treatments.

I use car brite and auto magic and they seem to work really good and you can also buy in bulk even up to like a 55 gallon drum (not that you would ever need that). Check em out, you may have a store or a distrubutor in your area.

Give it 6 months and your car washing obsession will get less and less important!
Stick with the Zaino and throttle back to 5 capfulls per bucket!

Unless its really dirty, 1 or 2 capfuls and 3 gallons works fine for me. I've been using Turtle Wax Ice Wash too, it seems to do a great job and doesn't strip the wax.

Wow, 10 caps? You must have some really hard water in your area. In Baton Rouge, our water is so soft, it only takes 1-2 caps of Z-7 per bucket.

I am just following the instructions on the bottle. Use 2-3 capfuls per gallon of water. So that is what I have been doing. We do have hard water.

I doubt it very seriously. I enjoy washing and detailing the car. It gives me a break from the everyday norm.

Honestly if you are using a lot use a otc car soap. If you want the best megs gold glass is amazing stuff and prob the most popular for guys picky about detailing. I personally use the turtle wax ice soap and for what i pay for it i think its very good. Again proper technique washing your car is more important then product. Doesnt matter if u have the most expensive car soap on the planet if u wash it incorrectly as most scratch's on todays cars are on the clear coat from people not washing the car correctly. Also if the car is only dusty look into a california duster. No point washing the car if its just a little dusty.

I don't have Zaino, yet (I spent $90 on one of the Zaino kits yesterday. I'm excited to try it out on my Saab before doing it on my Camaro, whenever I get it). But right now, I use Blue Coral Car Wash. It's very concentrated, so 2 capfuls is more then enough to get a whole car done.

Ok so I am going to try to use less soap next time and see how that goes. I would prefer to use one brand and every time I make a order I will order the towels and some applicator pads.

Holy crap so you're using 4-5 gallons of water per wash? That seems like too much to me. I use 2 gallons of water (4 cap fulls) and only wash my car twice a month. If you use the 2 bucket method, you don't need to use nowhere that much.

I was also going to comment on the the amount of water you're using, but Draco beat me to it. I usually only mix up a gallon and a half of wash water. For that I use 4 caps fulls. If more is needed you can always make more, but I rarely need to. I also use the two bucket method to wash the car. For the soap bucket I use warm water from the inside sink and hose water for my rinse bucket. This has two benefits: the warm water in theory helps the soap to disolve and bubble better. The second benefit is a more practical one, the warm water feels alot nicer on your hands, especially nice on those cold early spring and late fall days.

Heres the Z7 instuctions on washing the vehicle, and if you use a duster don't let the full weight of the duster lay on the car, just skim the dust across then go back over it each time kind of shake the mop to get the dust out. I scratched my black Impala with one when they first came out, a body/painter told me how to use it. I've got one of those first cali dusters with the wooden handle, they are a little lighter now the handles are plastic

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Wash the tires and wheels first. If you wash the car body first, the water will dry and spot your car before you can finish washing the tires and wheels. Do not use the same wash water on your car's paint as you do your tires and wheels. Throw it out and refill your bucket.


Mix one cap full of Z-7™ Show Car Wash per gallon of water in a clean wash bucket.


Make sure your car is cool. If possible, work in the shade. A hot surface causes the wash and rinse water to evaporate too quickly, increasing the likelihood of water spotting.


Start by thoroughly wetting the car's finish with a medium spray of water to remove loose grit and surface dirt. One trick is to park on a slight incline. This allows rinse water to run off moldings, trim, and recessed areas better.


Use only 100% cotton, made in the USA towels. Synthetic (flat sided) sponges and wash cloths can trap dirt, grit, and grime on the surface, which can scratch your car's paint.


Start washing from the top down and rinse the car often. Frequent rinsing is important if you are washing on a warm day. Do not allow the soapy water to dry on your paint.


Use a final rinse of free-flowing water (nozzle off the hose) allowing the water to sheet off the car.


One 16 ounce bottle of Z-7™ Show Car Wash will wash approximately 12 mid-size cars.

For a 5 gal. bucket, I use 1 to 2 capfuls, which is plenty!
