I forget the ones that are in the doors, strange I know because I'm all about the window switches. I generally just use the key fob and otherwise let the locks do their thing.

They function differently. Read your manual. One will automatically lock the door when you shut it. So if you plan on having your hands full when getting out of car you don't have to get fob out of pocket.

Ones on door just do plain locking/unlocking.

This is what the manual says.

To program the Power Door Locks see section under "Vehicle Personalization".

Aaaaa, they put them on the door now? Mine only has the one under the stereo. I guess they've added the door panel ones after the stereo was developed and removing the dash one would be more difficult then just leaving it in there.

Found it (it's on page 5-45 in my manual).
Interesting. Although, I'll probably never use this functionality, or remember it even has it.

Glad you found it.

So let's review for those that may look in future. The door locks on the door and the center console are not redundant. The locks on the door lock/unlock immediately.

The locks on center console can be programmed via "Vehicle Personalization Menu" to be delayed giving you hands free exit of the car.

Sales guy told me people were getting claustrophobic and freaking out trying to get out of their Camaro so they added the (un)lock buttons on the door as well for 2012

Plus Automatics unlock when put in park. I guess when you're freaking out you don't think logically.
