Sat in a 6th Gen on the showroom floor. Head hits the ceiling, so there's that.
Lost all its retro feel. Poor mans Stingray.

The original poster of this thread is on crack or high from the dentist gas! THAT stupid side seam on quarters, the super pinched grill & wide mouth bass opening in front, not to mention the over done creases in the hood. Bad move Chevy!

Not sure what's official to the OP, but when I priced out a 2SS last fall, I realized it was officially time for a vette with year end discounts.

Serious question - I've been wondering about the Stingray. Sure it's a badass looking car, but it's got a 6.2L V8 engine, almost the same as the Camaro SS. And the Stingray has no back seat whatsoever. Does the Stingray deliver more HP than the SS engine?

Why would I choose the Stingray over a fully loaded Camaro SS or even a ZL1?

I think it has about 5 more HP so not much difference. But the Vette would be a fair bit lighter and therefore quicker I would say. It really comes down to whether you want a Vette or not really.

I love the look of the Vette but have never wanted to own one yet. Maybe when I get even older than I am now I will fit into the geezer Vette demographic....

The LT1 in the Camaro is the same as the Corvette. The only real differences are the intake and the exhaust manifolds. The manifolds on the Camaro are actually a tri-y, very similar to the design on the Gen5 Z/28. The HP rating from GM is exactly the same. I believe there was a shop, sponsor on here, that got a new Corvette on loan from a local dealer and compared the two on the dyno. The Camaro actually came out a little better on RWHP. I'm not going to search for the thread.

The Corvette is a bit lighter, and with the transverse composite spring suspension, will handle significantly better. The raw materials used in the interior are going to be better as well, although the Gen 6 is pretty nice.

The Gen 6 is a nice car. I know it's to each his own, but the design is still pretty aggressive. No, it's not the throwback muscle appearance of the Gen 5, which has lost nothing in terms of being dated, it's still a great design. I will say, from talking to my brother, a lead tech at a Cadillac dealer, he is very impressed with the chassis design of the ATS/CTS. The Alpha platform cars are among the very best on the road.

This is good info. I'm just looking to get out of the V6 and into the V8. Can't decide whether I want the 5th gen ZL1 or a new 6th gen SS. I like the look of them both, and I'll pay about the same for them.
