Z/28 Air Intake Kit

I've looked and couldn't find any other discussions on this, so I'm wondering, does anyone know how the Z/28 air intake compares to aftermarket systems, such as Airaid, CAI, and Roto-fab? I would tend to believe aftermarket is at least a little better, but I like the idea of having the Z/28 kit in my car, just because it comes from the Z, and because it is OEM. Thanks!

Here is a discussion from a question I asked. Fairly recent thread. I think I'm going CAI or something aftermarket.

Sweet, thanks avido. Yeah, I got a Christmas list going and I need to get it done! I'm thinking Airaid or Z/28 CAI. I've had Airaid before and really liked it, but I just love to do OEM when I can if it's worth it.

Cool! Thanks for posting the picture and follow up after the install.

It looks nice too BTW! Even if it doesn't net the largest HP increase compared to the aftermarket options I'll still probably go this route because it's an OEM kit.

Thanks avido. You've given me probably the best answer yet. I don't care much if I lose 1 or 2 HP to the aftermarket, although I'm glad you said the filter is huge. To me, the best thing about a good cai is the sound and improvement in throttle response. It does look good in the SS engine bay too!

it's the same for me...the people freak out about the hp...let's assume the other cai, like cai or rotofab can give 5 hp more . even if they got 5 hp over the z/28 cai it's impossible to feel the difference between the 2 ...on the other hand the fact that the part is from z/28 it's a very cool factor . It's also a good thing that the tuning it's not required...if someone want to keep this warranty with this cai can do,but of course you can get a better optimization caused from a major flow.

after the break in i'll do a test with a stock filter( change the takes about 15 minutes) .. i'll do a test with a diagnostic tool to check that airflow with the chai and stock airbox...give me 2 weeks

I've read the Z/28 intake voids your warranty.

As such, take it off before you go in for service.

This would be a really good option for owners who live in California.
