Toss em. IMO a 5th gen with a muffler delete sounds about like what I would expect it to sound like stock. I have no idea why GM completely neutered its exhaust note.

Muffler delete is perfectly fine with no other exhaust mods. It's not that loud.

But with long tube headers its obnoxiously loud and will get you a noise ticket very quickly in most areas. Most the guys that go muffler delete get catback exhausts when they get long tubes because its just too loud.

now i have long tube headers and high flow cats with the muffler delete and i'll tell ya it's loud and it definitely drones. The droning you can get around once you learn what RPMs it drones at and then just shift out of the gear once it starts to drone.

i have to tell you though, the car sounds AMAZING at idle and deceleration. At idle it sounds like a motor boat and you can actually hear the sound of the stock cam, it's freaking awesome. just be ready for it to get loud when you get on the gas if you put long tube headers.

bottom line, you can't beat it for the money so i say go with it.
I am debating doing the same thing. How bad was the drone before you went with the long tubes? Was it overly loud in the cabin?
Thanks

I had the muffler delete for about 8 mths. Trust me....it's not that loud inside or out. Drone was minimal for me. Decel popping....you'll definately hear that alot more. For a money it's a good mod.

I deleted the mufflers on my 2SS 6m. I love the way it sounds execpt for the popping on decell. 2 more positives are you get rid of those ugly cans and the beast looses some weight. I had mine removed and reused the original tips. It only cost me 50 bucks.

Does anyone know if there are any HP gains by the delete?

I kinda like it, it defiantly makes it sound more of a muscle car than stock. And for the $ it cant be beat.
