How is it, the Camaro...

didn't get the same front end as these other Chevrolets?

What's up with this? Does Chevy only have one guy designing the front end of all their cars?

...it's called brand image. One recognizable face for your brand.

And that just shows how stupid the ad makers are. That "Cruze LS" is a Cruze LTZ/RS, the "Equinox LS" is an Equinox LTZ, and the "Traverse FWD LS" looks like a Traverse LT.

They always do that in the ads here. Show a picture of the higher end model while advertising the price of the base model. Then the potential buyer wonders why the cheaper car they're looking at doesn't have the 18 inch wheels like in the picture in the newpaper.

I always assumed that fell to logos, slogans, and design cues. Over copy paste. I recognise that each grill has different dimensions but they are all very close.
Doesn't really bother me but it just seems lazy.

When you see a Camaro (or a Corvette), you know instantly what it is. But with a lot of the mainstream vehicles on sale today, you could swap the fascias & badging between different OEM's and most people wouldn't know the difference.

A grille IS a design cue.

Everyone does it. BMW has the twin kidney grille, Dodge has the crosshair...

You would think they would choose something a bit less than...um...a "face made for radio" look.

Could be worse, everytime I see a Mazda smiling at me, I want to kick it in the grill. Smug little bas***ds.

True true, but its becoming more of a staple than a cue, if you know what I mean. I dont really mind it overall for the boring cars, because chevys commuter cars are looking the best in the segment imho.

Thank God that they didn't. That look is already getting tired looking. It used to be all you needed was an emblem to tell what make a car was. Now they have to make them all the look the same. Very boring.

You're thinking of the Toyota "buck tooth overbite emblem" design.

I would also say that using the front fascia as the main unifying element for the brand allows designers much more freedom when it comes to the body work & other details. Relying on 'cliche' elements on the rest of the car to make it a Chevy, or a Buick, or whatever is part of what was wrong in the bad old days of badge engineering at GM.

Hmmm, I think unless noted, the dealership has to honor the displayed vehicle on the ad right?
