Has anyone painted their SS brake calipers?

I'm trying to decide if I want to paint or powdercoat my calipers.

Although I know ultimately the powdercoat would probably be better, I'm leaning towards paint because of price and the fact that I wouldn't have to bleed my brakes. (about $50 vs $350)

So here are the questions if you painted yours:

Which brand of paint did you use? I've heard G2 and Dupli-Color.

What did you do about the "Chevrolet" and "Brembo" lettering? Are they just stickers from the factory that come off fairly easy with some brake cleaner or carb cleaner or did youhave to sand them off or something?

How did the paint come out? I would love to see pics if you have them. I'm curious on how smooth the paint looks and/or the gloss it produces.

Did you spray any clear on top of the paint to give it more shine?

I'm thinking about buying the Brembo stickers off Ebay. Anyone know the size to buy? I've seen a couple different sizes listed.

Any tips or tricks you can suggest?

Duplicolor has a good brush on paint. I used it on all my cars for the past few years, and it works great. Also cheap. They say one can will do 2 sets of calipers. I have done 4 sets, plus an intake manifold, and still have half a can left. Just use a good brake cleaner spray and wipe the caliper down before brushing it on. Takes 2-3 coats to get a good finish. No clear coat needed, and never had a chip or peel, (unless you count the time I hit the paint with a tire wrench by accident) Easy touch-up.

Showstopper painted mine with high temperature paint. He does nice work. He clear coated them after applying the Brembo lettering.

Check the CGM thread. A member there painted her brakes Victory Red. They look sharp.

I used the G2 color matched paint to do mine and they came out great. I ordered the Brembo decals from E-Bay for about $7 I think.

Just did mine yesterday with G2. Thirty bucks and four hours later, not the best caliper paint job I've done but it works!!

Cool.....where did you buy the G2 from?

Also....what did you do to take the factory Chevy and Brembo stickers off? Did they just come off like normal or did you have to sand them or something?

Anyone remember the size of Brembo sticker they bought?

The front calipers are considerably bigger than the rear. You might want to go measure your "Brembo" logo on them. You may need 2 sizes.

I had a 2008 Mustang GT...I painted my calipers with duplicolor, and it was BAD!! Painted them in June...the next april, during the first car wash of the year the paint was just peeling off!!! Painted my 2LT's calipers with G2 caliper paint and NO problems at all!! Would highly recommend the G2 Caliper Paint!!!!!! A little more expensive, but well worth the money!!

Found these. He says he'll make the different sizes. Anyone know which size to get for the front vs rear?

painted my own with high temp ceramic paint and clear.i would also recomend you do pull the caliper off the car,if you dont it will look ghetto. You can always tell the guy who didnt take the time to do it right and painted them on the car.If you worried about bleeding the brakes then have someone else do it that way you happy with how it turns out
