Red Jewel
After lengthy deliberation, i finally decided on a the Red Jewel Tintcoat with white racing stripes and black top. No dealership within 350 miles has this car, so i was willing to order one. Now the dealership is telling me that they can't order any more Red Jewel Tintcoat because of the issues in Japan (I guess it's manufactured in Japan). Is there any truth to this limitation? Also, If I opted to buy the car w/o stripes, how much should I expect to pay for a quality painted stripes aftermarket?

I'm not giving up yet. I know there are RJTs out there but none have the white stripes. I basically need a stock 2ss with black top and 6spd manual, then i can add the white stripes later (I hope).

Getting stripes on your car can run anywhere from $200 to $1K depending on what you want. Regular hood stripes shouldn't run you more than $350. But if you want a customer job be prepared to dish out the cash.
Good Luck !

Whiteman Chevrolet in Glens Falls has a Red Jewel vert in stock. Not sure if it has options you are looking for. I just got a black one form them 2 weeks ago and they put the white stipes on Monday. They charged $500 stripes & labor. Salesman I delt with was Bob Marcellus 518-792-2196 They have pictures of car on there web site and the window sticker. They honor any GM discount if you have.

Thanks Clustergear. I wasn't aware that the dealer could install the stripes. The one on Whiteman's website is an LT. It's gotta be a 2SS vert with black interior, black top and manual transmission. Thanks for providing hope!!!

I just searched my local dealerships websites in Long Island and found a Red Jewel with black stripes in their new car inventory. Looks exactly like mine. Arnold Chevrolet in Suffolk County. Easter Long Island. Here's the link:

It is true that they have stopped production because of the earthquake in Japan, and will not be accepting any more orders. However, I received my unit 2 weeks ago. It has black stripes. This makes it somewhat rare.
It is a beautiful color, but does not photograph as well as it looks. I have already added 3 coats of Klasse paint sealant and it looks like glass. It looks great around dusk and really turns heads. No mods yet, I wish I had unlimited funds. I added window tinting and black shark gill vinyl accents, which really goes well withe black top and stripes. |

Tstorm180, you might also want to check with Becky Doyle form Rodgers Chevrolet. She's highly knowledgable, responsive, and helpful. Beckyd@Rodgerschevrolet.com is her screen name and e-mail, in case you haven't already seen it.

I contacted GM directly and they told me that they are still making the RJT. They also gave me names of dealers within 200 miles of me that has a RJT with my specs (other than the white stripes). I found one with Silver stripes that really has me considering going silver. Has anyone seen this combo? If so, what do you think?

Silver would look beautiful on a gen5 vert! Especially with the black top.
