ok to explain in detail! the car was parked in a bay over a lift. i watched the guy pull the fx out of the boxand begin to work on it. i stayed there and watched him put the fx on the car with all the rivets.he was the one that informed it need to stay over night for at least 24 hrs so that the "tape" could stick properly.the news of this memo was all ready out or more my dealer was well aware of this issue.
the point of this post was the tape dont work. sooner or later depending how long you keep your car, the tape will give.again a bad idea to use tape on ground fx especially in the front area, but you go ahead and trust that tape idea and when $2000.00 fx is laying in the road dont sit there and say it wasnt followed to a "T"

Sorry - wasn't meant to be sarcasm I didn't know if there was something different in the bulletin that hasn't been released yet. But I digress, the real credit goes to BalogUK for sending me the PDF install file.

(you're welcome)
...now to make sure my dealer, 2400 miles away from my desk, gets the same information, cause heads are going to roll if half way through kansas on my way back to Georgia my front lip falls off.

Will GM sell individual pieces, more specifically the front spoiler, or do you have to buy the entire ground fx package?

At this point in time, the GFX are sold only as a complete package. I am sure in the future you will be able to buy them by the piece.

Hylton left off the front of his gfx kit. You could ask him if he still has it & is willing to sell it.

After review of each of the calls to the Action center it was determined that the installation instructions were not completely followed.

It is important to make sure that all of the front attachment rivets are installed. There are 16 rivets used for the SS and 4 are installed with the fascia off the vehicle. There are 17 rivets used for the base model.

Do not use petroleum based cleaning products. If a strong cleaner is required use a 3M general purpose cleaners (P/N 08984). Tape will not adhere to a surface with residue left from petroleum based cleaning products.

Be sure to apply 15lbs of pressure to tape for proper wet out. After the kit has been installed the car should not be driven for 24 hours. The tape that is used during the installation of the front air dam must sit for 24 hours for complete adhesion.

Remember there are two different Ground Effect Kits available.

Part number 92207441 is only used on the base model Camaro
Part number 92208008 is only used on the SS model Camaro

Amazing as Usual Scott.

um....

mine was done exactly like the instructions called for... I know because I was there.... and watched them install the front lip.... I did this because of the problem I read about on this site... I even put sticky notes on the installation instructions about cleaning with the IPA wipes and putting pressure on the tape.

Then they made me wait 1 day before I could pick the car up (24 hr cure).

............ my custom painted front GFX lip came loose 2 days later....... and it comes more and more loose every day.

the only thing holding it on now is the screws on the underside. If I were to post a picture you guys would go crazy. (i will do this ASAP)

... on top of that....the dealership wont fix it... they say that they are waiting for GM to "redesign" it.

I dont want to drill screws in it because the new "redesigned" lip might not cover the holes that I would drill to attach the old "messed-up" one.... not to mention I will have to have the new lip repainted (at my own expense).

between the front lip comig loose, the PDIM module being non-funtional (no USB, AUX, or Bluetooth), and the A-pillar hanging 1" off the headliner.... my friends and coworkers think that this car is real nice from more than 10' away.... but a peice of junk once you start to look it over carefully. I keep telling them the GM is working on getting it fixed.... but it has been two weeks now and the same guys ride with me to lunch and the same friends see the car on the weekends. I am sure it makes them think twice before ordering one.

GM.... please fix these issues.... dont just fix them..... tell the service advisors (specifically Jeffery at Tuscaloosa Chevy) that these are known problems and tell him how to fix them.

These dealerships are clueless.

That is interesting.

I wonder what the other dealers who successfully installed the GFX are doing different..???

my guess is that they are putting extra screws though the tape.

or.... GM caught the problem after a few hundred of the parts already shipped..... and changed the kind of tape used on the lip

No on the new GFX

Hello. Same problem mentioned about from Chevyland in Shreveport, La. It looked ok when I brought it home. About 4 or 5 days later, I noticed the front lip of the GFX was 3/4" off the from of the car. Didn't really pay it attention, figured I hadn't noticed originally.

A couple days later eating lunch, my friend pointed out the GFX was hanging halfway down to the road. By that time it was toaste from being scrubbed on the road. It looked to me like the center pieces of tape (which was horrifying to know it was taped at all) came loose. Then air got int he gap and forced it down to the road. ..toaste.

Here's before and after..

If you find out anything about a new and improved version or if they start selling just the front piece by itself. Please let me know.

Many Thanks!
Wizard

PS.. 2010 Camaro 2SS Automatic < 300 mi at the time of the photo.
