RS SS What am I paying for
Guys I just ordered mine RS SS w/2SS options and after I gave the deposit and finished the paperwork I started going over all the info I had on the RS and find out that I am really paying $1200.00 for the headlights. The rest of the RS package (besides chrome around the taillights)is already on my 2SS. Any comment on this. And if thats the case are these headlights going to cost $500.00 to replace when one gets busted?

Welcome to the site. There have been a lot of discussions on here about the RS package. You should search through some of those to get a bunch of different opinions. I will tell you that the HIDs are awesome and well worth paying the extra for them alone. We just bought a new GM with HIDs and they are 1000% better than the stock halogens. The coverage on the road is amazing. Plus, they look one hell of a lot cooler to me than the stock ones. But again, search through some of the other threads and check out the opinions. At the end of the day, with or without the RS package, the car is going to be great.

The tail lamp treatment on the RS is NOT the chrome bezel. It's the tinted appearance that is on the RS and not the SS.
In the RS package on the SS you are paying for HID with halo ring, darker tail lamps, body colored roof ditch molding, and 20" Midnight Silver rims. I personally think the price is more than fair. But that's a question that only you can answer. As for the price to replace HID's, I couldn't tell ya. But considering it's a charged gass that illuminates and not a filament, I doubt they give ya much trouble burning out. However I have no experience with HID's.....yet

I'm not getting the RS package on my 2SS... seems as waste of $1200.00. I will put that $1200.00 towards something more beneficial like a new exhaust system which will enhance the sound and performance.

I wish I had your money! But for a more frugal consumer, wouldn't aftermarket HIDs be available at some point for a lot less money? I personally have zero interest in HIDs, and if I did have interest in them I would prefer the factory-installed lights compared to an aftermarket product. But sometimes, the factory price is simply out of line. IMO.

Here are some attached files that might help show the difference on each model.

The headlights will be worth it, sure HID lights aren't worth 1200 alone but you are getting other stuff. And any manufacturer headlights are generally better quality than after market, I put halo headlights on my civic and had all kinds of trouble with them, also on my civic you can't even do halo and HID just one or the other. I like the look of the headlights and HID lights are alot brighter and a lot safer I have them on my sportbike as well and I can see way more when riding at night. Its also going to make the car more valuable overall or if you should ever resale. There will be ss cars and rs v6 cars but not a lot of ss/rs cars for me it wasn't even a decision it was a must.

While I think the RS package should be a little cheaper on the SS, the look you get is exactly what some people want. The front end really stands out, and I wanted a dark look to my vehicle, so the darker rims were worth a little more to me. Ultimately, is $35K that much better than $36?

I originally ordered a 1SS to save money. Then I thought to myself, don't you want the leather, upgraded stereo, gauges package, steering wheel radio controls, etc? The answer was yes. Then I asked myself, don't you want to HID's with the halo ring (man they really make the car look good), body colored ditch molding, and midnight silver wheels? The answer again was yes. So I decided the extra cost for me will be well worth it. I plan on keeping my Camaro for a long time. |

The HIDs are projector on the Camaro, thy have a shutter. I agree with Squalo, the RS is definitly worth it for the all LT models because of the bonuses you get. With the SS, you get most of it anyways, but i think its still worth it. It honestly looks great in person, i do think it should be much cheaper for you guys, it should be like an 800 dollar option on the SS but theres nothing you can do about it but bargain with your dealer. If i had bought an SS, i would definitly go for it in my opinion because the little things make a big difference, but some people will want it more then others
