My 2014 ZL1 is in the dealership at this moment waiting for an entilely new rear end (800 miles)! The service writer calls me every day to keep me updated (they are flying in the Diff).
I asked him today, "I guess it's too early for you to perform the key recall"? I went on to say, this is going to expensive as in my case (automatic) the fob not only locks and unlocks the doors, opens the trunk, but remotely starts the car. He said the fobs won't be replaced. Something about they will be laser cutting new keys, and it sounded like they were going to dissasemble the fob and put these new keys in them???? But maybe the guy that said we could end up with a key and a separate fob could be right. He also said you are not required to perform the recall. If your not interested you have to sign a waiver. And went on to say, no they do not have these new keys yet. They only need 1,000,000 of them... right? Almost 500,000 Camaro's and each needs two!!! |
