My rule is , off the road before the first salt and back on sometime in April after a good long hard rain to wash that stuff off the roads.

+1
I just put mine away last Sunday. I could have stretched it a couple more weeks but I'm storing it at my future in-laws about 20 miles from my home and I didn't want to gamble with the erratic Michigan weather.

In South Carolina, they may put salt on the roads like 1 day a year. That's all I gotta put mine up for.

My tires don't do cold weather, and I have an out of town wedding and then a vacation, so the car will go into storage Monday. It is going to be another looong winter.

Spelt? You obviously also don't know much about painting cost either.

I guess the difference is not a daily driver and I do not drive it on rainy days. I am not to worried about the dried salt as much. But I am north of you.

You take yours to Maaco first. Tell me how it turns out!

But....but......but........Maaco is cheap. I think i remember a special for a full car repaint for $350. If you pay a little extra they may even remove the emblems first instead of painting over top of them.

Amen, bro. Before the salt flies here I'll be slapping a set of Ultra Grips on mine and I'm so close to Canada ya can't swing a dead cat without hitting one! With snow tires this thing drives like a tank, although everyone thinks I'm nuts for driving it. I drove a lot of Winters when I first began driving in RWD cars, before anti-lock, traction control, stabiltrak etc. With all that on it and my winter driving skills I have absolute confidence in my Camaro. That said, I'd love nothing more than to garage it for the Winter and avoid the slop, salt AND bad drivers. Can't do that because I supplied my 17 y/o with the beater I would have used, so between that AND the insurance for him no more $$$$. Oh well, it'll still be in fine, low mileage garage kept shape in 3 years when I trade it for a lo mile rust free V8 AND move far enough south the only snow I see will be in postcards and my nightmares!!!!
