Replaced your winshield yet?

I live in Alberta and unfortunately got a huge rock chip in my winshield last fall that is not repairable. Of course, it's right on my vision, so I am on the hunt for a new winshield. Wondering if anyone has replaced their's and if so, what was the cost and where did you get it done? It seems there is lots of variation in the price after checking out a few places. Is there that much of a difference in vision/cost to purchase one without the HUD insert? Do you recommend sticking with the factory installed one or a regular winshield?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Doesn't your insurance cover that? I've had a couple windshields replaced over the years. It never cost me a dime.

I had my windshield replace, but it was only $25 I think. (Glass Insurance)

The HUD will not be clear if you don't get the right windshield.

Two of my cars had hud. Just have to make sure they know that when it's ordered. I would tell them that you want om spec replacement for sure.

Yep. I called a couple of places and it's only $200 less for a non HUD windshield.

All my chips are summer ones too, construction season is worse than winter rocks, at least in the winter they are smaller. So it's going to look ugly for at least another year. My crack runs through the middle of my HUD too.....

I checked with my insurance and I can't place it until the windshield is replaced and new again.....
