Driveshaft Replaced

My A6 SS was experiencing intermident noise comming from E-brake/tranny area since middle of july, brought it in to dealer a couple times, but it stopped, and finally became an everyday issue about six weeks ago; first they replaced shims; when that didn't work they orderred two piece drive train; part finally arrived; in and out in one day 12-18-09 so far so good; hats off to Fremont Chevy; did three warranty (Spoiler loose again, and updated wiring harness) issues in one day, and didn't sweat me on my after market exhaust (although a couple weeks ago one consultant did ask if I got it installed before or after the noise).

So, what was the problem with the original drive shaft?

Good ?, but I forgot to ask; I'll update tomorrow. I've read in other threads some of them were not hardened correctly.

Fourth gens had an issue with some two-piece driveshafts and vibration issues (it would get so bad, the transmission tailshaft and/or rear end would spring leaks!). Shortly afterwards GM phased out that design and made a one-piece driveshaft standard equipment. Perhaps history will repeat itself?

You may be referring to the output shaft issue. Different story. We'll wait for your update

I hope not.

Bump for a long-term status update? Just curious if you've made any change to this part since then.

Has anyone tried an aftermarket driveshaft? For the longest time I was told an aftermarket 2010 Camaro driveshaft cannot be made. Well, PHASTEK lists three driveshafts, aluminum, chromoly & carbon fiber with CV joint. All stronger than stock. Albeit they're expensive. A lighter shaft always does away with most vibrations. What do you think?
