I live in the snow country so the 2013 Legacy 2.5i which invoices for under $18k was an easy choice for me.

I know there are sportier mid-size sedans available like the Optima and mazda6 but I'm guessing they cost more then $18k.

Cruze or Fusion. That Malibu is horrendous, even in 2014 form.

really looking to stay under 25,000. its just me and my wife mostly so not needing lots of room..she just likes a mid-size sedan rather than a compact. feel like the cruze and focus though are big enough. she has test drove both and really liked both. we saw a vw passat the other day and it looked really good..gonna go and check it out soon...anybody have one with some comments about it added. it seems to be in the price range we are looking at. really looking for reliability, looks and just fun to drive...want a sedan with some options, not loaded.

I would not get a VW if you're looking for reliability.

really liking the legacy...i think we can afford the 2.5i premium also..which has a few more opts. this legacy is at the top of the list for sure.

We choose the premium also for the features like the heated seats, and alloy wheels and got $2,250 off msrp so it was almost like a free upgrade.

The wife loves her satin white pearl Legacy especially after I surprised her one day by having them put on the factory spoiler, window tint, painted door mouldings and Subaru window louvers.
