Don't forget, besides being a dependable and durable engine, the LS9 passes all 50 states emissions tests.

A modified engine isn't going to be smog legal.

He has built engines gettin 1175hp on pump gas. no lie. u guys go buy u an ls9 and im tellin you your gunna regret it. unless you just have the money to throw around i wouldnt bother. although it sounds good and is a cool thing to talk about.

heres the link. not my vid but interesting.

Builds engines from scratch or modifies existing engines? The LS9 is a handmade engine.. That's one reason their is such a price on it. Go look at ZR1. Remove engine cover, the name of the guy who built it should be stamped on engine.

Any wrench monkey can improve on something already there. Takes alot to build from scratch.

Anyone can make big power for a short period of time. Lets see him go through the durability test that GM does.

The LS9 is a great engine considering the total package.

Now although I agree that this thread is a pile of crap...

Your statement is not completely true. The LS9 is a great engine but it isnt the end all be all engine and it also doesnt mean that custom built engines dont last as long at high horsepower levels.

I sold my 2003 Z06 two years ago to buy a new one. I was running a 408 with a YSI setup on it for 80K miles making over 800rwhp with not a hiccup. And it cost me less then 20K to build that engine with the blower, fuel system and other supporting parts. With the Trans and Diff I had about 25K worth of aftermarket parts total into it. But it was built right and bulletproof and with stood being driven in an hot climate on a daily basis for a few years and many miles with no problems. The guy who currently owns the car just rolled 100K on it and other then replacing a clutch the car still runs flawlessly.

Yep you can get a bunch more power for a lot less than 20,000 but I doubt it's steetable like the LS9, which is a ***** cat I'm told (confirm Junkie?) when tooling about town.

LS9 will fire up in the heat, in cold in the rain and in the snow.

So it's ok if you want more, but there is really no technical basis for knocking the LS9.
My friends do this all the time, more hp more hp but have to work on them when the weather changes, timeing gets off and when trying to cruise they sound really bad and are jumping all arond cause all those engines want is more speed.

I have been on this site a year and never seen that (OWNED) on here. Now maybe on my chat room for the Bengals talking trash with a few Squealer fans but not in here.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

lol to all yall that r replying to my thread. i truthfully love the ls9 as well and it in a camaro is an awesome thought it truely is. i posted this to get some different feed backs from people. and so yall know i was told today by a dealer that he sees them coming out with a ls7 camaro but not the ls9 due to the fact that taking the ls9 and putting it in a cheaper car would bring chevys zr1 down. the prices would have to drop and that wouldnt be good for chevy. thats what he said dont kill the messanger

Agreed, dealers are typically the last ones to know. And even when they are told they still seem to get it wrong. I can almost guarantee that your dealer less information on the Z28 than this forum provides.
