brake fluid in Z28

What brake fluid comes in the Z28? Since it is built for the road course is it a very high dry boiling point racing fluid like people say you need to put in the ZL1 if you do HPDE events.

Any car going to the track.... get yourself some best of the best Dot 4. Not cheap dot 4. It will be around $20 a 500 mil bottle or more or it's junk.

I had great luck with Motul RBF 600 Dot 4.

So you think GM puts different fluid in the cars when they go make runs at the RING?

It says right in the manual to swap it for tracking.

There is a number of things to track prep a car. Anybody buying the car for actual race track use will know how to track prep a car, and will have the instructions in the owner's manual.

The manual gives you a list of stuff to do... change the alignment to race spec align, bed the brake pads, change the brake fluid to a spec boiling pt or above fluid, change the diff fluid, reduce coolant to 30% (70% water), remove under hood deflector...

You're not going to take the car off the showroof and go set record laps on a race track without going through race prep... before every event.

It would be interesting to know the percent buying the car that are actually going to track it. If it is not going to be tracked, I'd guess a pretty high percent.... the way it came is perfect. 50% coolant, DOT 3, street alignment..... all stuff you want for street driving and the Sunday show and shine.

DOT 3 is more forgiving for street use. Absorbs moisture. Forget about it for many years. Any tiny amount of moisture that gets in over the years is absorbed.

Racing brake fluid is resistant to absorbing moisture. It is also changed often as part of track prep.

Kind of like racing oil vs SAE oil. Racing oil has huge amounts of zinc/phos anti wear additives and no detergents. SAE oil has huge amounts of detergents for long change intervals, environment... One could argue..... how come it didn't come with racing oil.

Some thing, those that will be racing it, will know how to race prep it.

DOT 3 and DOT 4 both have their intended uses. Pros and Cons to both.
