More carnage

Well I got to drag race and I did beat my personal best time. I had couple of minor problems, I thought I had a race gas tune in my hand loader but did not. Have not raced the car since Oct so I understand the oversight but I already put $100 worth of race gas in the car before I tried to load the tune and found it was not there. So the passes I made were a few ponies less than I could have run with the right tune. My first pass the traction control did not turn off so I made a terrible burnout and then spun cold tires in every gear down the track. Next pass was the record pass and then my clutch warped to the point it would not disengage enough to go into reverse and would no longer do no lift shifts. I tried a couple of passes on a slipping clutch but only ran in the 11's on the last passes.

10.897 @ 125.59 is my new best.

Time to bring it to the shop again. Should I put in clutch # 4 in 8000 miles or just put in an auto? That auto is starting to sound tempting....lol.

I'm trying to post a video and failing.. . Seems I forgot how.

I'd go Auto if you really want to get everything, time wise, out of the power you're making... Lots of things to get right when rowing gears with that much power/torque.

Ok, so no carnage. From the subject line I thought you had blown your engine, the rearend, or made a left turn halfway down the track.
Glad there's no actual carnage. Congrats on your new best!

what was your 60'? Sorry about the clutch issue. If clutches are such a PITA, definitely go auto and never look back! The 6L90E is a great tranny...you will love it, and I have never read of a failure here.

I think that is the first ever pass in the 10's for a ZL1 with a stick. Congrats. I think you are the record holder.
As for the carnage, I don't know........

Well, the car won't go into reverse at all and if you don't match the revs it grinds when shifting into forward gears. It is at the ADM shop right now and the trans will be removed and gone through by Andy's trans specialist that swapped the gears previously. I don't have a bill yet but I'm sure some synchros will need to be replaced at the very least.

I asked around and heard that the monsters might not be everything they are supposed to be. I sent Steve @ monster a message and he said he did not have a clutch that he was certain would last on my car in stock right now. I don't know of anyone that destroyed the Mantic 9000 before me. I'm trying the RPS and staying with the clutch at least through the Texas mile. I do not think I will have a problem with this one....knock on wood.

On the record pass it was 1.62. After that there was clutch slip and all the 60 ft times were back around 2.1. When I dropped the car at ADM we talked about the Auto. We have talked about the RPS clutch before and I was avoiding it because it cost $3200. According to Andy this clutch will outlast the rearend and rear shafts. It is the easy fix right now. I honestly don't know if anybody has abused an auto trans like I have beat on the manual with the amount of power I have. I have been impressed with that auto and that is why I'm considering it. But if anyone could destroy a 6L90E it would probably be me.

I guess you are right about me having the record for a manual. Thank you. There is a lot more potential in this car though if I can just pull everything together. I did get the car to Andy without calling a wrecker so that is not really carnage but looking at what the repairs will cost to replace the clutch and refurbish the trans sure feels like carnage....I did not budget the clutch before the Texas mile...and it is gone...

I never did get and exact price but he said it was a lot more than my $3200 clutch.

I LOVE my 6 speed standard but if drag racing was my main purpose I'd just get the automatic and be done with it. That is very impressive for a standard car that weighs that much and is still streetable.

Great job.
