Horsepower and Stock M6
Just curious, what kind of horsepower are you guys putting through your stock manual transmissions? I am just trying to gauge how quick I need to save up for a built M6.
Also if you don't mind, what upgrades have you done to help your tranny work well at those levels (clutch, shifter, lines etc.)? And how do you drive it (track, street only, drag strip etc.)? Thanks for your input.

A lot as long as you are not grinding gears (GM did a poor job on the hydraulics) and doing other weird things. My mods are ideal g master cylinder and the street slayer triple clutch. A lot of street driving and occasional strip. I did a lot of roadcourse before the turbo kit, but after the turbo kit I didn't feel that the oil temps would stay in a safe range. 50%% of runs the car makes 742whp 742 wtq and 50% it makes 920whp 910wtq. Dyno'd as high as 1145 and has had probably 15 dyno pulls over 1000, but it hasn't been ran on those settings. 46000 miles on tranny. 2011 car so it's a different output shaft than the 2010 model. I hope this helps you.

Awesome thanks, I've had the grind issue a couple of times at the strip and of course the sticking pedal, but I am going through with a Mantic 9000, braided lines and Monster's new billet through out bushing. I'm hoping to clear up any clutch and grind issues so the tranny can last for a while after my Procharger install or at least until I save up for an RPM unit.

You need to install a ideal master cylinder to help the grinding, I'm over 800rwhp stock tranny, street mostly and some track, also have a MGW shifter which helped a ton, had a Hurst and had the gear grind a lot even with the ideal master cylinder, not since MGW, its so much smoother shifting.

my transmission mainshaft failed at 48k miles. i would have to admit i missed gears and grinded them but very brief. i dont know if that contributed it to the failure, but i was running nitrous on it and i had some wheelhop but very minimal. i heard that some early production camaros had a weak transmission. hope this helps. i am in the process of rebuilding the whole drivetrain. lol

The output shaft problem was in early 2010's. Not sure the vin cutoff. Nice numbers! |
