My thinking is that the pin that holds the roller in slipped and the lifter could not go up and therefore jacked the lifter. Does this sound like something plausible?

I ran the car 50000 miles camed with no issue except for this.

Did the lifter turn in the tray? I can't tell which direction it was facing when it died.
