I hope they do a 45th and a 50th. I was born the same year as the Camaro, so I'm into the anniversary editions. I bought myself a 35th on my 35th. Hope to do the same on my 45th and 50th. God willing and the creek don't rise.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but it's an honest question.

Debate.

Not disagreeing, just want to figure out which present to get.

Agree with all above 2012 is 45th.

The Camaro has been in existence for 43 years now. In 2012 it will mark the 45th year since the Camaro was introduced. Thus 45th anniversary!! Not trying to be a ass either, just simple arithmetic.

You don't count the years it was produced, you count the years from its first model date. From the somewhat all knowing wikipedia:

45 isn't really a landmark number to me. Does anyone celebrate their 45th birthday more so than their 44th?

When it comes to selling cars, they'll do ANYTHING to make themselves stand out.

They didn't have a 5th, 10th, 15th or 20th anniversary even when they were building them. A 45th is absurd, IMO, but I'll bet dimes to donuts they will do it.

BTW they did have a 20th anniv. It was the 1987. There were some with a special 20th anniv. pouch on the dash over the glove box that said 20th anniv.

I believe Z28 will commemorate the 45th quite nicely

If I had a '67 that I bought new I wouldn't be tired of it, but the same wife for 45 years? Hmmm. Then again, my wife points that the car got more for Xmas last year than she did.

I believe they had a 20th, 25th, 30th, and 35th.

Trans Am had a 10th and 15th, but I don't believe Camaro did.

Corvette had a 50th anniversary edition in 2003, and they skipped a model year in 1983. Although, there were 43 1983's built but were never sold. So maybe that technically keeps their anniversaries going.

I hope there is a 45th and 50th Camaro. They can just put an asterisk in the history book about the skipped 7 years. If you're in a coma for 7 years and wake back up, you'd still celebrate your 50th birthday, 50 years from your birth.
