Merc and friends fish the Mighty Fraser

After a couple of real lean years. We finally get to fish. The Fraser River worlds largest salmon producing river, we all had a hoot. Enjoy!

I heard there was going to be a record run on the Fraser this year, glad it came through. Over here on the island we had a great run into Port Alberni as well. I used to fish the Fraser when I lived in Chilliwack. Looks like the good times are back again!

I was begining to think that there were no Camaro owners who liked to fish. This will be the last kick at the cat this weekend. Time to break down camp which has been open since July 28th. No more freezer space left.

I guess you do not have to go to the Queen Charolette's to catch 26lb Spring...

That is great. I only got to fish once and I'm not a bigger fisherman but I REALLY want to go again...

Took almost 40 mins to land that fish and drifted three miles downstream. It got hooked in its pectoral fin area and thus was able to swim very strongly for a long time. Also caught a 10 - 12 lb sockeye.

But...did not catch my limit. It got quiet for the 6 hours I was there.

34 million fish swimming up the Fraser. The most in a 100 years. (after three years where there were so few fish there was NO fishing allowed).

and what is most extraordinary....the fisheries people have no idea WHY there are all these fish.

We fish for sturgeon as well. The record for our boat is 126'' estimated to be between 450 to 500 lbs.

Very Nice, how long did it take to land that sucker. The one i caught took about an hour and a half, those suckers know how to fight. Im headed back up that way Sept 26 to fish for Sturgeon, close to Yale.
