At 11:00am they notified me that it was the oil pan gasket. At 2:47pm they called to tell me it was done. So they only had my Camaro there for seven hours! Either they lied about the leak just to stick GM for a warranty claim or they're mechanics are really good. I want to believe that it's the later.
It's not that hard to change out a gasket...

The reason for removing the serpentine belts is one bolt (front /center) that is to long to be removed without first removing front balancer pulley!
Thanks for reminding me to cut 1/2 inch off bolt before I put it back together.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic, lol. If not, please. The oil pan "gasket", isn't a gasket for one, it's a silicone bead of GMS (yes, GM Silicone is what it stands for), and it's an 8 hour job. Please read the first post, there's a lot more involved in this operation other then dropping 12-14 bolts and dropping the pan, ala SBC from days of yore.

And no, I don't recall the exact number of bolts on the oil pan of a generic SBC, lol.

If you look you will see that the sump pan is bolted to the bolck, gearbox, front cover and right engine mount. It also has 2 x dowel pins and is efectivly glued to all!
A pain to remove on a engine stand - never mind in situe.

Found out mine leaks as well... Recent oil change mentioned that the filter was loose and residue coated a good bit of the underside. Started smelling oil afterward, figured some may have spilled on the headers, but still smelled it 3 weeks later... no oil on the garage floor and oil levels were the same. Brought it back to find it was coated again :(
