Amp on box concern

Ordered the two 12" ******** box and harness . Already have two alpine type e 12s and pdx-m6. Looking through pictures everyone using the dual woofer boxes have mounted amp on back of box. Won't the amp get hot there?

That is how I have mine, no issues at all. Just leave an inch or so of dead space for the amp to cool.

Thanks . I found a thread where someone mentioned using 1/4 inch spacer between amp and box. Is that what your refering to as deadspace?

I always use drywall screws but I cut lil 1/4 inch silicone rubber hose bushings and lightly tighten down the screws. The hose bits save the amp from vibrations. Always done it and have had some huge systems.

No, amp is up against the box. Space is on the other side, between amp and seat back. Ill snap a pic, but it wont be an issue

IMO - if you can avoid putting the amp on the box - do so. not because of heat, but because of vibration. The vibration from a pair of subs will transfer directly into the amp, which will, over time, vibrate the solder apart and shorten the life of the amp.

now, that being said, its not typically going to kill an amp in a day or a week, just something to keep in mind over the course of years, that vibe will take its toll.

This is the way to mount an amp to a box. Like Topdown mentions as well, vibration can kill the amp overtime, this is the best way to prolong/prevent that.

normally I wouldnt recommend using drywall screws either... but this is me being nit-picky

These are the only screws I would ever recommend anyone using to install an amp, subs, components or head unit.

flat bottom (so they dont chew on the mounting tabs) and tamper resistant.

The harder you make it for someone to steal your stuff, the less likely they are to mess with you to begin with.

My enclosures are not put together with these screws, but my subs are mounted with them, my amp rack is attached with them, my amp is mounted to my amp rack with them, my head unit (in my Dodge, since I havent finished the install in the Camaro) is installed with them, the dash kit is installed with them and I replaced the OEM trim screws with them so you cant even get the trim off without having the right bit... I HIGHLY recommend that EVERYONE use these type of screws for installing everything in their car/truck/etc...

and since I use different sizes and types throughout the car, lets hope that any thief that wants my stuff comes well prepared to sit and figure out which type and size to use to get it out.

Thanks for all the feed back. Can't wait to tackle this over weekend. Get my shipment from ******** tommorrow. I'm still waiting on amp . May just pick one up locally and ship it back. Just not pateint lol. I found a kicker zx750 for 299 locally. Off topic , but throwing this out there? And I'm not trying to be the loudest guy on the road. But in your opinion would I be happy either way? With the alpine pdx-m6 or kicker zx750
