Hence the dilemma.

Exactly. I am sure you will have no problem selling the stripes here on this site.

He has posted in the past that he will guarantee the EXACT fit as the factory stripes and will make them in any color you want. He is also willing to make the factory stripes for you but extend them so they will go past the hood if you prefer that look. Besides, he wouldn't dare show his face around here if he screwed up the stripes.

Txturbo - no pressure at all, is there?

Makes me feel even better.

Have we got any official word on if the vinyl stripes will be cleared over? I remember talk before about how they are usually applied by a seperate company after it's painted in a seperate area, so is it safe to say they for sure won't be cleared over?

EDIT: Also, at the beginning of the thread it says it's ok to wax over them but in other threads people have stated you don't want to wax over them. Anyone have info to back up either viewpoint?

I think it is safe to say that the stripes WON'T be clear coated over. Your statement is consistent with what I have heard (regarding the stripes being applied in a separate building AFTER the car is completely built).

Txturbo says that clearing over vinyl stripes is fine. No, GM will not be doing this as they never have on any Camaro that has received vinyl stripes since 1974. I have waxed many vinyl stripes in the past with no problems.

Rodrunner, did you see the pics of the Barrett-Jackson SS/RS? Check the last pic in the OP - the rear stripes go over the spoiler.

Stripes stopping on the spoiler. Well, I'd rather if they just continued to the bottom edge of the spoiler, but I think I can live with those.

i was reading on the thread about keeping cars shined up that you should not wax over the vinyl but I think that if someone has and has had no problems, then it might just be up to the owners obsession with keeping the car as safe as possible during cleaning.

The trick is to use a product that does not have any abrasives in it.
